This house is really people's
choice. It is a very open and livable house with a lot of area

house was built on a cost plus basis and done simply on a handshake.
This house exudes warmth and spirit.

Description
-
This house is a recreational home built on an extremely beautiful
and difficult site. We had a ledge just above the waterline of
Lake Billy Chinook that was 50' wide with a rock bluff behind.
It forced us to build wide and tall. By using lowered decks and
shallow porch roofs, we were able to design and build a home that
takes advantage of the view and the lay of the property. There
is a full basement with three garage doors that allows the owners
to drive through the house to get to the other side of the property
and a door that leads directly to the lake so that the boats can
be launched from the home. The main floor has a very open feeling
with the living room and dining room toward the lake and a kitchen
behind. There is also a laundry/storage room and bath behind the
kitchen and the master bedroom in the real corner of the first
floor. Large covered porches surround the house on three sides
and provide protection from the hot eastern Oregon sun. The second
floor has two bedrooms, and a bath. There is a catwalk that leads
from this area to the glass window wall in the lakeside gable
end.
Key features -
1. Log truss and rafter roof system with unique roof line that
blends into the rock bluff.
2. Expansive porches
3. Fishing right off the front porch.
4. Maximum use and value of a very difficult site.
5. Western Redcedar doors, windows, paneling and siding throughout
the house.

Description -
This home is quite hard to describe. It is a unique home with
many special features. The main floor has the living room/dining
room area, kitchen, master suite, sewing room, laundry, and a
large office. There is a glass, quarter circle atrium breakfast
area with an indoor barbeque. The main entrance is under the covered
front porch, a large south deck with a hot tub and the rear deck
has an outdoor barbeque. The second floor has a loft, bath and
three bedrooms. The basement houses a family/game room, storage,
mechanical area, bath and a two car garage with lots of storage.
This home is the most beautifully finished home that we have been
a part of building. The owners acted as their own general contractors.
The husband then took on the landscaping outside and the wife,
who owns an antiques store (and it shows!), did the interior decorating.
This house is one that really has to be seen to be appreciated.
Key
features -
1. Sized for a family of seven and they stay active in the home.
2. Two shop/garage buildings.
3. Western Red cedar, trim, doors and windows.
4. Roof system of log ridgepoles and log trusses with Western
Red cedar ceiling paneling.
5. The detail work in the painting and wallpapering in this
home is second to none!
