Regions from our location.
"Without
caring for the needs of out clients, we would cease to exist!"
First,
a bit about this web site. We do not have a brochure, catalog or
price list. Our web site serves as the MFLH brochure. If you still
have questions after reviewing our web site, please call us or drop us an e-mail. I’m sure that we can answer
any questions that you may have.
MFLH
specializes in high-end, handcrafted, scribe-fitted log work for
residential and commercial clients. Mark Fritch built his first
log home in 1969 at the age of 18 and has continued to work with
logs ever since. Most of our log homes are in the 2,000-3,000 square
feet, we have built both larger and smaller log projects. Most of our
projects are relatively complex structures that exemplify classic
log home styling. We are known for out intricate log roof systems
using log trusses, log ridgepoles and log rafters. MFLH also supplies log
home consulting services, log post and beam structures, log accent
work and log home supplies in addition to our regular log
work.
"MFLH
specializes in high-end, handcrafted, scribe-fitted log work..."
Because
all of our log homes are custom, handcrafted homes, we do not work from
stock plans. At MFLH, we do all of our own design and drafting in-house.
We then do all of our own log work in our yard located in Sandy,
Oregon. When completed, we ship the log homes to their site and reassemble
the log work. We are available to general contract the log homes that
are within a 30 mile radius of our work site. We can provide log
home packages, fully complete log homes and anything in between. When
we do only the log work, we provide a “carpenter ready”
structure. This means that every bit of work on the logs is complete
and the carpenters only need their normal tools, equipment and skills
to complete the home. MFLH is available to work on a consulting
basis to work with general contractors and their subs to see that
the project goes well.
"We can provide log home
packages, fully complete homes and anything in between."
Our
completed log homes typically cost from $175.00 to $200.00 per square
foot. This price does not include the cost of the
land. A log home at this price will include high quality materials and
finish work. The cost of utilities is also a consideration when
there are deep wells to be drilled or long runs for power, telephone
and driveways are called for. A steep site or confined homesite
can also adds to the cost of construction.
Obviously,
the cost can increase above this amount when other amenities such
as extensive stonework, multiple fireplaces, large decks, custom
tile, granite and marble are added. As the quality of fixtures and
amenities is upgraded, the costs go up. Creative and tasteful use
of beautiful, high quality materials and fixtures constantly produce
incredible results. Some of our projects have gone over $350.00
per square foot.
Complete
log work packages range in price from $50.00 to $75.00 per square
foot for a complete package. We typically provide the shipping,
reassembly crews and cranes for our packages. In some cases, the
clients have taken it on to provide these cost elements themselves.
One
of the most common questions that we are asked is, “What does
one of your homes cost?” The simple answer would be, it is
‘design dependent;’ the larger or more complex the design,
the more the cost. Since our work is all handcrafted, it is quite
labor intensive and therefore, more expensive than other forms of
construction. Our work is not cheap; it is invaluable. If cost is
a major concern we may not be the log builder for your project.
However if our work is within you budget, a MFLH log home is an
excellent investment.
"If
you appreciate excellence in hand craftsmanship then we can fulfill
both your needs and dreams."
MFLH
is oriented to produce complete homes from start to finish and we
are very experienced in the three major elements of creating a log
home; drafting and design, log work and general contracting. Because
of this, we have learned over the years how to produce a high quality
log structure, well thought out, on time and on budget. By doing all
three major phases of a log home, MFLH has learned how to be innovative
in new techniques, materials and designs. Very few log home builders
have the depth and breadth of experience of MFLH.
General
contracting of structures is offered (and preferred) where the home
is within an hour's drive from Portland, Oregon. The more we do,
the more control we have over the quality and the cost of the structure.
Over the years, we have discovered many fine suppliers and subcontractors
that now work very closely with MFLH in the construction of our
homes.
"We
are 'tooled up' for nearly every sub-trade required in the construction
of a Log Home."
If you choose to finish your own log home, we can supply many of the
needed materials at quality competitive rates. Some of the materials
we can supply include high quality doors & windows, cabinets,
interior and exterior log finish products, and plumbing settling
devices. In addition to design, log work and general contracting,
MFLH is available for log home restoration and consulting work.
MFLH has done restoration, repair and remodeling work on CCC projects
and historic homes built by Henry Steiner, John Steiner and Bill
Leng.
Larger
log projects can be done with attention to the needs of our crews when
we are working off site for extended periods of time. Large log projects
often require far more planning and commitment in personal, equipment,
and materials.
We
hope this gives you a feel for the work that Mark Fritch Log Homes
can do. Please explore our site for more information. We are proud
